About Bhartiya Map
Bhartiya Map: the map of India that knows every PIN code
Bhartiya Map (bhartiyamap.com) is a free, interactive map of India built for the questions people actually ask: where is this village, what is its PIN code, and which post office delivers there? Call it the Indian map, Bharat ka map or Bharat ka naksha: open it on any phone or computer and the whole country is in front of you, from 28 states and 8 union territories down to 754 districts, 19,586 PIN codes, 1,65,627 post offices and 6,73,632 villages.
Most maps of India show roads and cities. Bhartiya Map adds the layer that matters for an address: India Post's official PIN code areas. Search a place or tap anywhere, and its PIN code area is outlined in red, so you can see exactly which streets and villages share that PIN code.
Bhartiya map dikhao: see any place in seconds
If you have ever typed “bhartiya map dikhao” into your phone, you wanted a map of India that opens straight away. That is the idea here: there is no app to install and no account to create.
- Type any place in the search box above: a village, a post office, a locality, a landmark, a street or a PIN code. Spelling mistakes and old names are fine, so “Banglore” and “Gurgaon” still find the right place.
- Tap Find my PIN and share your location once to get the PIN code, post office, street address, district and DIGIPIN of the spot you are standing on.
- Open the full-screen map and tap anywhere in India for its PIN code, the nearest post offices and the full postal address.
- Switch to satellite view to spot the exact building, then copy the address or share the page in one tap.
Bhartiya Map in Hindi, Bangla and nine more languages
A map of India should speak India's languages. Searching for Bhartiya Map in Hindi, “bhartiya map hindi mein” or “bharat ka naksha hindi”? Open the हिन्दी version: the buttons, search, result details and state names are all in Hindi, so you get Bharat ka naksha in Hindi with nothing left out. The Bhartiya Map Bangla version at বাংলা does the same in Bengali. The tool pages also work in Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi and Odia, and search understands Indian scripts: type कोरमंगला and it finds Koramangala. PIN code, district and state pages stay in English.
Bharat ka naksha download
Need a map of India to print or share? Just above, you can download three maps for free, as a PNG for printing and WhatsApp or as an SVG that stays sharp at any size: a blank outline map of India for school map work and projects, the PIN code zone map that colours the country by the first digit of its PIN codes, and a dot map of every mapped post office. All three follow the Government of India's position on India's borders, including the whole of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and show Lakshadweep and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
How PIN codes are drawn on the map of India
A PIN (Postal Index Number) has six digits, and each one narrows the map. The first digit is one of nine postal zones: 1 and 2 in the north, 3 and 4 in the west, 5 and 6 in the south, 7 and 8 in the east, and 9 for the Army Postal Service. The first two digits name the postal circle, usually a state; the first three, the sorting district; and the last three, the post office that delivers the letter. India Post introduced the system on 15 August 1972. Our visual guide to how PIN codes work shows each step on the map.
Where the data comes from
Every PIN code and post office on Bhartiya Map comes from India Post's All India Pincode Directory, published on data.gov.in under the Government Open Data License. PIN code areas are India Post's own boundaries, and villages come from the Local Government Directory of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Before anything is published, the data is cleaned: coordinates typed the wrong way round are fixed, offices filed under the wrong state are put back in the right one, and points that fall outside their own PIN code area are moved to the right village or dropped. The base map is drawn from OpenStreetMap and the satellite imagery comes from Esri. The about page has the details.

Bhartiya Map is free and works in any browser, on any phone. There are no pop-ups, no sign-up, no cookies and no ad trackers.
